Back to work, indoor football playoffs or another sunset?
Hiking in Maryland looking for the Chimney Rock, without a map, we never found it. Vacation is over.
Drove 2,225 miles
Camped for 15 nights and slept in 9 different places, in 5 states.
Pulled two ticks for me and was almost eaten alive by mosquitoes.
Canoed, hiked, biked, fished and eat well almost every day.
A great vacation!
I plan to go back and add pictures to a lot of days, but I am tired tonight!
Our last camp site somewhere in Maryland.
Sam learning to body surf. Spent the whole day on the beach, didn’t even wet a line till after 5pm. Then the thunderstorms hit… everything was soaked. Slept very well to the sound of rain and thunder!
Skates swimming under me and fishing into the night. Better luck and we landed lots of fish (none keepers) but lots of fun.
Fishing – from the beach and a pier.
Pole and bait $30
Pier fee $9
Fish caught 0
At least we ate seafood!
After a slow start, we arrive on the Outer Banks in time for a sunset drive on the beach.
A down day. We stopped in Williamsburg so Sam could swim in a pool, we could dry out the last of camp stuff, finish laundry from the first week on the road and river and so we could ride some single track on the bike.
Day 2 of a 26 mile “float” down the Rappahannock River. Even when you think you have it made…
Thanks to Mark and Michelle (stuck in the picture) and James and Elizabeth for planning the trip, the WONDERFUL hospitality before and after the trip and loaning us a canoe… again sorry about the scratches and dents!
Day 1 of a 26 mile “float” down the Rappahannock River in VA, the water was a little low in spots, and required a lot more paddling than floating most of the rest of the day…
