Today was another day in the woods. We started on a section of the Uwharrie River I have wanted to paddle for a while. It needs spring rains to be deep enough to paddle.
After the thunderstorms in the middle of the week, it looked promising, featuring over 12 class I rapids (easiest) and good flow. I don’t have pictures, but we started almost immediately when Sam flipped her boat when she hit a strainer (tree)
A great couple of hours on the water!
Then hike #15 of #52hikechallenge – Birkhead Tract of the Uwharrie Game Land.
What is Clay photographing this week?
An Eastern Fence Lizard.
Sean and I won our first USTA League match playing together. My first time playing on clay since the early 1990s?
After the match, I headed to the woods for a couple of hours.
The wall is coming down to build the new photography department gallery. After trying to pry down the brick, they tried pulling it down with a strap.
Finally – ramming it worked.
Another in class live demo – bounce flash.
Sam stresses about homework, Mo the Cat sleeps.
A good day: Got my VPN to play nice and watched the Tour of Flanders, always love to see a long solo break away win! Then a bike ride, my first 50 miler of the year (I had not planned it, so I ran out of water and the last 10 miles were tough.
Then Sam and I did an evening hike on Middle Mountain Trail at the zoo. #14 of #52weekchallenge
A day in Uwharrie Forest, starting at the Uwharrie Jamboree celebrating the opening of the OHV trails for the season. Then Clay and I drove around some of the back roads.
