The summer semester starts and the requirement for the golden elixir of life does too.
Rain, rain go away, I am trying to play tennis…. at least we have indoor courts tonight.
I am getting ready for bed and decide to check my bike before an early morning ride… and I find me rear tire is worn to the cords in multiple places…. sleep will have to wait for a tire change.
Glad to get this ride in…. 2 hours in the rain. I knew when I left the house I would get wet, the rain started 3 minutes into the route and stayed till I got home, at least I missed teh thunderstorms.
Turtle rescue…. right after I picked this guy up, a couple of Bro Dozer trucks came down the road…. I doubt he would have survived!
I had some time before tennis to walk around the yard with the macro. A daffodil bulb almost ready to open.
Ride of Silence Greensboro. I have always wanted to do this ride, I spent the hour of silence thinking of Big Jim, a Fayetteville mountain bike friend and Special Forces soldier who returned home early from a deployment and didn’t have a house key, he loved riding and while waiting for his wife to get off work, got his bike from the shed and rode around his neighborhood streets, a 17 year old high school student ran a stop sign and hit him head on, Jim was paralyzed from the neck down… I visited him several times in the hospital and he always said, wear your helmet I wouldn’t be alive without mine…. he died less than a year later when a blood clot broke free….
I also thought of Jill Skivington, a New York friend and my daughter’s teacher who was hit and killed while she was running!
SHARE THE DAMN ROAD! #rideofsilence
Kodak along the Deep River Nature Trail in Randleman. I am really thinking of starting the 52 Hike Challenge again….
The trails all to myself. I guess when it’s over 90 degrees, no one wants to mountain bike, I had Wild Turkey and Owls Roost almost all to myself.
Started my ride just after 2pm and at 90 degrees…. just over 3 hours and 50 miles later I was home. Welcome back summer!
Carolina ‘Cross on the the screen… in front of a standing room only crowd!
After the film block, film makers got to introduce themselves and take questions… the best part was when another filmmaker used part of her introduction time to gush over our film and complimenting it as a first time documentary film!
