Rock climbing at Pilot Mountain
Last time here, I wasn’t even able to start up this route (Pole Dancing), today was no problem!
Starting the first climb of the day, much smaller jugs than the gym
Second climb and side hold
working across to the dihedral (new word to me)
climbing up the dihedral
The annual silly family picture! Merry Christmas!
Family trip to the Greensboro Science Center
Making homemade pasta for dinner
Cold and rainy run – still better than the treadmill!
My church today. Dire Straits and single track!
Thanks to Danny and Anna for taking me to the boulder fields. I learned I really prefer top rope climbing!
Searching for a hold
left a little of my skin behind
nowhere for my feet
trying to palm hold when I couldn’t get a finger in the crack, and no it didn’t work!
I got to cover high school swimming and diving for the News & Record. 28 teams was crazy!
I went early to cover diving
I always talk to my students about not embarrassing high school athletes, remembering they are still kids. This is an example, I like the picture, but didn’t send it.
As part of Sam’s birthday/Christmas gift, the family went indoor skydiving at iFly in Concord.

Figure 8 knot. I was never great at knot tying, barely earned the Boy Scout merit page, but this knot has my life (or at least limbs) resting on it. Luckily it’s super easy. Another great night of climbing, stayed on 5.8 and 5.8+ routes.
