A Photo A Day: After 25 years as a full-time newspaper photographer, there were assignments that were not visual or the publication seemed to publish the “wrong” picture, I started a personal Photo A Day project with co-workers on Jan. 1, 2003.
The project’s impetus was to always make a photograph for me, an image I liked but the publication wouldn’t use, or playing with a technique, etc. Originally we made prints and met once a month for breakfast, sharing that month’s photo album. After a few years, the project moved to a blog.
Over the past 18 years, the project has changed, sometimes it has a theme, for example: 50 days with the 50mm lens or a week of macro photography, other times it is just a personal diary, a travel log and sometimes it is a pickle jar at 11:50 PM because I have not made an image that day.
The project is now over 6575 days of A Photo A Day.
Hi Jay. Do you have a map of your uwharrie gravel ride on Jan. 21, 2017?
Thanks,
Maurice Smith
