Got the Tacoma back for the shop after it had a “sleepover” – glad to get it back and to see someone’s toy out.
It was supposed to be a camping day, but weather choices made it a wedding decorations day.
And of course the daughters at the elephants picture day.
Late evening stroll in downtown Asheboro.
A full moon in February is called a snow moon. Adding to the excitement was a lunar eclipse – not an awesome total eclipse. but the moon passes through enough shadow (called the penumbra) to create a noticeable darkening on the left side – this photo is the peak.
I spent some time looking for a foreground…
but with a 500mm Mirror lens, the moon was not big enough for the depth of field to work…
Hike #2 of the #52hikechallenge – Birkhead Mountain Trail in Uwharrie National Forest. We started at the Birkhead family farm, some buildings going back to the late 1800s.
Within a mile we had to cross a creek since the bridge was washed away. Not a problem except when hiking on a 15 degree morning, a wet foot would have been unpleasant!
Soon enough we were deep in the woods, only the crunch of the snow/ice under our feet.
How Kodak spent the second half of the hike. I had her off leash for the first half, but she wandered off and didn’t return, long enough I had to bush-whacked in her last known direction and back track till she returned… I was not happy!
About an hour and half in the silent woods, a rare North Carolina snow covering the hills, so a great day!
A cold front pushed through during tennis tonight, creating a blustery evening!
The super moon. I worked until 7:15pm and forgot to get the rise, so I grabbed a 500mm Mirror lens and shot a quick frame from the school parking lot.
Asheboro’s Field of Honor – 500 American Flags
Finished 2nd in men’s doubles, and unfortunately made it home in time for the debate.
Disappointing match today. Played for 3rd in the Asheboro Hard Court Championships, and was on serve to 3-3, then I stopped playing smart and excelled in unforced errors. 2 matches for the 2016 championships, playing for first in men’s doubles on Monday and second in mixed doubles on Wednesday…. maybe then I can get back on my bike since cyclocross season starts in 3 weeks!
