Zoom birthday and anniversary call
Each morning at 6:45 AM, a garbage truck visited the dumpsters about a 100 yards from our spot, this morning after our wake up call, Deb and I talked, my daughter was in pain, couldn’t spent anymore time in the sun, it was time to pull the plug… we packed up, make the 11am check out and got $60 back… and headed home. 10 hours later (lots of stops for dog, a picnic at a Sonic, etc) we arrived home.
Some thoughts: I would never stay at this KOA again, tent sites next to road (see above) much dirtier than any other KOA I have seen, the toilets were always clogged (men’s and women’s, twice, I used their plunger with no luck… glad I have a Thetford portable toilet. I loved the beach and would go back in a heartbeat in the spring, but want to camp at a state park. ANASTASIA SP has beach access, FAVER-DYKES SP is 15 miles south, one thing, this park closes it’s gates at sunset…. we were concerned about wanting to be out later than that, but in hindsight……
I liked the history part, but the dog makes it difficult, we left her in the truck in a parking garage with the back glass open and the fan blowing, but were worried, so I rushed through the Castillo de San Marcos, and after that, we each skipped a site to sit with the dog… at least that saves money. Can’t wait to get back in the woods…. Deb had forgotten what not camping in the woods was like!
